Purpose of PPE

When talking about Personal Protective Equipment, Health and Safety experts regards it as a last resort or as last defense – is it really supposed to be our last defense? 

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) or safety gear can be seen as one of the controls after workplace hazards and risks (HIRA) was identified. 

 Let us look at the purpose…. 

 The purpose of PPE is to protect the company employees, its visitors and various onsite contractors from exposure to work place hazards and the risk of injury. 

For everyone to comply with the institution’s rules and regulations the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is communicated and enforced. 

The following workplace hazards or even hazards at can be physical, electrical, heat, chemicals, biohazards and airborne. In order to address such hazards one must wear the correct PPE for the task. Without donning the correct PPE, you might not be up for the task.
