Do we judge the book by its cover?

 Sometimes as people, we tend to look down on others, be it because of their social standing or their appearance.

This happens naturally even before we have even listened to the person. Sometimes this is because of our preconceived ideas on how a perfect human being should be.

We always pray, "Create in me a Clean Heart Mighty God" but just after the prayer, we are again back to our old ways.

The judgemental

When are we going to learn to respect people not based on what they have but on the fact that we are all created equal.

When are we going to accept not everyone wants to be addressed on a title but on first name?

When are we going to engage with those that we tend to look down upon?

When will we realize that we are all dependent on one another?

When are we going to learn to listen without the urge to respond but to listen-to-listen?

When are we going to STOP being cold to others and learn to embrace one another.

 

So many things in this world at times can go wrong with people and our reaction and engagement can add more fuel to fire.

 

For today only, let us go out and let love lead.

Never look down on anyone, unless you are willing to help them up.

 

SO many questions ... SO little answers ...

Did we forget the poorest of the poor?

Some would ask... What are you getting at? The question however remains; Did we forget the poorest of the poor?

I am not asking this question because its nice to ask, I am asking it because I see no improvement, 1) In the lives of our poor people 2) In the conditions 3) In the delivering of services!!!

Where did it all go wrong though? It went wrong immediately after those in power decided to ignore their plea. One would recall during this year's municipal elections when prominent leaders were on the campaign trail most of them were lambasted. There was even a time where the ruling party and the official opposition had a toilet fight, yes they tried to compete as to who was better or worse when it come to the issue of sanitation.

Today however is not to talk about toilets or the provision of services. Today I want to highlight the importance of a caring government. I'm not saying that our Government in South Africa is not caring, what I am saying is that their programs is not beneficial to the poor. What a contradictory statement some would say?

Let's do some quick mental maths. Exempt taxi's and some busses (in fear of a revolt) who doesn't contribute to the GDP (with the exception of refuelling) or paying taxes, from paying of tollfees. Building or procuring a highspeed train that doesn't serve it's purpose (which was to reduce traffic congestion and provide alternative means of public transport). Then force the already cashed strapped public to pay for tollfees in excess of more than R50 per single trip from one city to another.

I am convinced that this wasn't thought through as the very means of fuel or food transportation are charged almost R100 per single trip from one city to another. This has resulted in regular and uneven increases on food and fuel prices.

The poorest of the poor therefore suffers the most when it comes to the availability of essential household items. Paraffin which is use at almost every informal settlement is priced at more than the price for petrol or diesel. To buy a loaf of bread is almost also equivalent to the price of these fuels.

My question therefore remains...

MOTHERSDAY message

With Mother's Day approaching…Thought I should just remind you how special you are. You might not be a mother yet, but you may be a girlfriend, a wife, a sister, an aunt, a god mother….etc.

To those who have recently given birth…Congrats
Those who are pregnant… You are carrying the most precious cargo…stay healthy and enjoy the 9 months.
Those who have miscarried…stay strong, everything happens for a reason.
Those who have conceived and don't know it yet…prepare yourself for the best experience of your life.
Those who are looking after their siblings…you are doing a great job.
Those who have adopted….We need more angels like you.
Those who have aborted…the world might be judging you…..but you had your reasons.
Those who are single moms…You are our sheros, stay strong.
Those who have recently lost their mothers, aunts, sisters, wives & girlfriends…I sympathise, they are at a better place but their spirit lives on.
Those who have mothers but do not get along with…..if the relationship is worth fixing, then fix it and don't regret later.
The list goes on and on.…God has a plan for all of us. Regardless of what happens or does not happen, everything happens for a reason
Always know that you are special and never settle for less.
